Ingredients
  

Pasta and Sauces

  • 12 oz pasta (such as penne or linguine)
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (such as cheddar or mozzarella)
  • 2 cups chicken broth
  • 1 tablespoon Cajun seasoning

Main Ingredients

  • 1 lb smoked sausage, sliced
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

Seasoning and Garnish

  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • In a large pot, cook the pasta according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  • In the same pot, add the sliced sausage and cook over medium heat until browned.
  • Add the diced onion and minced garlic, cooking until the onion is translucent.

Cooking

  • Stir in the Cajun seasoning and cook for another minute.
  • Pour in the chicken broth and bring to a simmer.
  • Reduce heat and stir in the heavy cream and shredded cheese until melted and smooth.
  • Add the cooked pasta back into the pot, mixing well to combine.
  • Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  • Serve hot, garnished with fresh parsley if desired.

Notes

For a classy touch, serve in shallow bowls. Pair with a fresh side salad or garlic bread to balance the richness. You can add a dash of hot sauce for extra heat, or substitute chicken or shrimp for sausage. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days, or freeze portions for up to 2 months.
