Dough and Filling

  • 1 cup pizza dough Fresh or thawed frozen
  • 1/2 cup mozzarella cheese, shredded For a robust flavor
  • 1/2 cup pepperoni slices Classic choice, can be substituted
  • 1/4 cup ricotta cheese Adds creaminess
  • 1 piece egg, beaten For egg wash
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning Adds flavor
  • 1/4 cup marinara sauce For dipping
  • to taste olive oil For brushing

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  • Roll out the pizza dough on a floured surface until it’s about 1/4 inch thick.
  • Cut the dough into squares, roughly 3x3 inches.
  • In a bowl, mix together the mozzarella cheese, pepperoni slices, ricotta cheese, and Italian seasoning.
  • Place a spoonful of the cheese mixture in the center of each dough square.
  • Fold the dough over the filling and seal the edges with a fork.
  • Brush the tops of the rolls with beaten egg and a little olive oil.
  • Place the rolls on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and bake for 15 minutes or until golden brown.
  • Serve warm with marinara sauce for dipping.

Notes

For best flavor, use fresh ingredients and consider adding crushed red pepper for extra spice.
