  • 1 lb sausage (Italian or smoked)
  • 4 cups green cabbage, chopped
  • 1 cup bell peppers, sliced (mixed colors)
  • 1 medium yellow onion, diced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp low-sodium soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • 1 tsp red pepper flakes (optional) For added heat

Cooking

  • Heat a large pan over medium heat and add the sausage. Cook until browned, about 5-7 minutes.
  • Remove the sausage from the pan, slice it, and set aside.
  • In the same pan, add a little sesame oil and sauté the onion and garlic for about 3 minutes until fragrant and soft.
  • Add the chopped cabbage and sliced bell peppers to the pan. Stir and cook for another 5 minutes until the vegetables are tender but still crisp.
  • Return the sausage to the pan and pour in the soy sauce. Toss everything together and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes.
  • If using, sprinkle with red pepper flakes for added heat before serving.

Notes

For enhanced flavor, add ginger or customize with your favorite vegetables like carrots or broccoli. Garnish with chopped green onions for an extra touch.
