  • 1 pound fresh green beans Wash thoroughly and snap off the ends before sautéing.
  • 1-2 tablespoons olive oil Extra-virgin is preferred, drizzle lightly to avoid greasiness.
  • 2-3 cloves minced garlic Fresh garlic adds depth of flavor; avoid burning by adding it later.
  • salt Use to taste; start with a little to avoid overpowering the dish.
  • pepper Use to taste; adjust as needed.

Optional Ingredients

  • slivered almonds Add for extra crunch.
  • lemon juice Add for a splash of flavor.
  • toasted sesame seeds Add for extra flavor and texture.

Preparation

  • Heat a large skillet over medium heat for about 2 minutes until hot.
  • Pour in 1-2 tablespoons of olive oil, swirling to coat the pan.
  • Add 1 pound of fresh green beans to the pan and sauté for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • Toss in the minced garlic and cook for another 2-3 minutes until fragrant.
  • Sprinkle in salt and pepper to taste and adjust seasoning as needed.
  • If using, stir in slivered almonds or lemon juice and cook for an additional minute.
  • Remove from heat and serve immediately.

Notes

Sautéed green beans are best served fresh but can be stored in an airtight container for up to 3 days. For freezing, blanch and freeze for 2-3 months in freezer-safe bags.
