Dry Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1.5 teaspoons baking powder
  • 0.5 teaspoons baking soda
  • 0.25 teaspoons salt
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon

Wet Ingredients

  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 0.5 cups brown sugar
  • 0.5 cups unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup buttermilk

Filling

  • 2 cups apples, peeled and diced

For Dusting

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking pan.
  • In a large bowl, mix the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon.
  • In another bowl, cream together the granulated sugar, brown sugar, and softened butter until light and fluffy.
  • Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  • Alternate adding the dry ingredients and buttermilk to the mixture, starting and ending with the dry ingredients. Mix until just combined.
  • Gently fold in the diced apples.

Baking

  • Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and smooth out the top.
  • Bake for 45-55 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Let cool before dusting with powdered sugar.

Notes

Enhance flavor by adding chopped nuts or customizing spices. Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days or freeze for up to 3 months.
