  • 4 pieces Sweet onions Choose large, sweet onions for the best flavor.
  • 1 cup Cheddar cheese Shredded.
  • 1 cup Mozzarella cheese Shredded.
  • 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese Grated.
  • 1/4 cup Butter Melted.
  • 2 tablespoons Herbs (thyme or rosemary) Fresh or dried.
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 teaspoon Pepper

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Peel and slice the sweet onions into thick rings.
  • Melt butter in a pan and sauté the onions until they are slightly tender.

Baking

  • Layer half of the onions in a baking dish.
  • Sprinkle a mix of cheddar, mozzarella, and Parmesan cheese over the onions.
  • Add the remaining onions on top and season with salt, pepper, and your choice of herbs.
  • Top with more cheese and dot with additional butter.
  • Bake for 30-45 minutes, until bubbly and golden brown.
  • Let cool slightly before serving.

Notes

Enhance flavor by using smoked cheese, or customize with cooked bacon or spinach. Serve with a dollop of sour cream for added creaminess.
